Here is a series of photos that I took in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, at Pea Island National Park.

Living on the east coast of the U.S., it is difficult to catch a sunset over a body of water. The outer banks of North Carolina afford such an opportunity since you look west over Pamlico sound towards the mainland U. S. coast.
The illusion is quite awe-inspiring. As the sun nears the water horizon, it appears that the bottom drops out of the bright image and spills into the sea.
