From the President

The September general membership meeting at the church proved
to be a very worthwhile evening. Paul Kuhn from Devcon
Adhesives was featured and presented us with an awesome
display of his company's products. We all were amazed with
the extent of and the capabilities of the new adhesives. We
also were most appreciative of the many samples that we were
given.

The Sunday Breakfast Fly/In at Pottstown-Limerick was a real
blast. Everyone had a terrific time. What great fun it was
to stand on the runway apron and watch the many different
types of lightplanes land and take off. Add to that the
enormous breakfasts served and the model display put on by
V.F.S.S. and you have all the ingredients of an aviation
junky's dream.

Thanks to Al Campana for being the contact person for this
affair. Many club members participated. Special thanks go
to Mike Estock, Dee Messina, Al Campana and Bob Sudermann for
erecting the club canopy on Saturday. They also displayed
their models along with George Dukes, Bob Flick, Joe Weizer,
Joe Yalove, Charley Swope, Jim Campana, Frankie Morris,
Michael Myers, Warren Barrick, Rudy Forst and Randy Forst.
Organizers of the event were very impressed with the V.F.S.S.
effort and expressed their desire that we return to next
year's Fly/In. I for one can hardly wait! Thanks to all who
participated.

BOG September's BOG meeting was held at the flying site in
the park. Three important topics were discussed. 1) Fall
Fixed Wing Fun/Fly will be on October 4th. Mike Estock and
Joe Weizer will coordinate the event. Hoagies and sodas will
be provided for all members. A separate mailing will be sent
to each member because of the late selection of a date. See
you there! 2) The Instructional Program. Rom Boutin, who
earlier resigned, has agreed to remain as chief instructor
for the balance of the 1997 flying season. Jim Campana has
volunteered to assume the duties of chief instructor for
1998. It was also generally agreed upon that more members
who have already soloed would be allowed students in gaining
repetitions of flying skills to gain proficiency so that
"instructors" could check them out and approve each student
as having soloed. We hope that this will speed up the
instruction process and help all of us to have even more fun!
3) The BOG itself. This year unlike many recent ones is
going to be one of great upheaval in the leadership of the
club. Many top officers including president, secretary and
treasurer are completing long tenure on the BOG and have
chosen not to stand for reelection this year. All will still
be active in the club. I invited to the Bog meeting Ron
Gallo and Dee Messina. Both have agreed to be a part of the
BOG as it reorganizes. I am grateful to both of them. We
need more volunteers to do the same for the coming year. The
BOG under my tenure has not been an onerous duty and it
doesn't need to be under the new president. We have
carefully scheduled BOG meetings every other month and
limited the business to the enjoyment of our hobby. We need
everyone to participate. If you have already served,
volunteer to serve again. You will feel better for your
efforts and the club will benefit and keep bringing fun into
our lives.

General membership meeting at the church on October 14th.
Videos from the EAA will be shown. Show'N Tell and raffle as
usual.

The BOG will not meet in October.

See you at the Fun/Fly on October 4th!

B.O.G. Review
The September meeting of the V.F.S.S. Board of Governors was
convened on Tuesday the 16th at 6:30 P.M. In attendance were:
The President, Treasurer, Secretary and 14 B.O.G. Members.
The following business was discussed:

1) The Treasurers report was given By Walter Pierzchala.
2) A date was set for the Fall Fun-Fly. It will be held on
October 4th with a raindate of the 5th.
3) The Board was informed that Rom Boutin has decided to
resign as the club's Chief Instructor. Several ideas were
put forth on how best to proceed with the program none of
which gained overall favor. Jim Campana finally stepped
forward and agreed to take over as Chief Instructor
beginning next season. Rom agreed to maintain the position
for the remainder of the 1997 season.
4) The need for volunteers to serve on the B.O.G. was
addressed and there was a lengthy discussion about the
importance of members volunteering to perform important
club duties. Members Ron Gallo and Dee Messina agreed to
serve on the Board.
5) The education Dept headed by Joe Weiser will need
volunteers to work with sixth grade classes at the
Hopkinson School sometime in November. If you'd like to
help call Joe Weiser.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20.

There Is No B.O.G. Meeting In October.

Looking For A New Editor

For nearly two years I have enjoyed working
on the Hear-Ye and have considered it more a
labor of love than work. However of late I find
myself with less and less free time on my hands
being forced to squeeze the newsletter into an
already ridiculously tight schedule.
It is definitely time that I passed it on to someone
who can devote the time necessary for a monthly
newsletter.
I will be happy to work with the new editor for as long
as necessary and supply him or her with all the templates,
files, clipart etc.
If you'd like to take it on please call either myself or
Warren Barrick.

Training Activity
By Rom Boutin

Due to the rush to get the Sept. issue of the Hear-
Ye the following was late in getting the information
to the Editor in time.. SORRY !!!

SIMON BUSH had a busy August which in addition to
SOLOING two students and instructing three other
students had enough time to repair his treasured
aircraft. SIMON turned RODNEY SMITH loose on Aug. 6
and MARC MISSERA loose on Aug. 9. Congratulations
to Marc and Rodney and another great job by SIMON..

ABE JONES keeps busy on Monday mornings and
Wednesday evenings instructing his students. All
his efforts in training JIM CHUBB paid off on Aug.
11 when he SOLOED Jim. ABE was assisted by Assoc.
Instructor JIM HOLDER. Congratulations "CHUBBY" and
nice going ABE and JIM.

SAM ANDREAS is at it again just to pick up where he
left off last season..With six assigned students he
had time to SOLO a very recent member H.KHELLA on
Sept.2. A great job done by SAM without using a
buddy box and congratulations DR. KHELLA.

September rolled around and you guessed it JOE
WEIZER kept busy and let CHRIS DeANGELIS off the
buddy box and SOLOED Chris. Joe and Chris made a
good combo both are enthusiastic when flying is the
subject. Good luck CHRIS and great Job JOE.

You all know JOE PASQUINI he is the Instructor who
takes up to one hour after he appears at the field
to get his equipment out.. Well ROMEO KARALIS must
have the patience of Jobe as JOE has signed ROMEO
off and SOLOED him on 17 Sept. I understand that
Romeo threatened him, now we know how to get Joe
started. That by the way is JOE's first student SOLO.
Congratulations to both JOE and ROMEO...

Enjoyed reading your newsletter and admired the quality of models
displayed. I belong to Hinterland Flying Club on the Gold Coast. Asmall
club of 40 members, many ex RAAF and airline pilots well into their
seventies and still flying models. I fly an ultimate, Cub, Champion 45
pattern ship. Best wishes to your Club.
